Investigating the Effect of Group Counseling based on Schema Therapy on the Cognitive Regulation of Emotions of Divorced Adolescents

Abstract :
Abstract: The present research was conducted with the aim of effectiveness of group coun-seling based on schema therapy for Cognitive Regulation of Emotion of divorced adolescents.This was an semi experimental study of pre-test and post-test with control and follow-up groups. The statistical population was all female students from divorced families in the age range of 13 to 15 years in Isfahan city, and the statistical sample of this research included 30 adolescents girls from divorced families who were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups.The experimental group received twenty 90-minute schema therapy-based group conseling sessions and the control group did not receive any training. The Cognitive Regulation of Emotion Questionnaire (CERQ) by Granfsky, Kraij and Spin-haven (2002) was used to collect data. Ana-lysis of variance with repeated measures was used to analyze the data. The results of analysis of variance with repeated measurements showed that schema therapy was effective in the cognitive regulation of emotion (p<0.01). and this improvement continued in the follow-up phase (p<0.01).
