Modeling academic enthusiasm based on basic psychological needs mediated by the intrinsic value of the task

Abstract :
The aim of the current research was to explain academic enthusiasm basic psychological needs and the intrinsic value of the task in the form of a Structural equation analysis. The research method was correlation and path analysis. The statistical population of the research included all students of the second secondary level of Shiraz city in the academic year of 1400-1401, and 500 students were selected as the research sample by multi-stage cluster random sampling method. The data collection tools in this research were: La Guardia et al. Basic Psychological Needs Questionnaire (2000), Pintrich and et al. Task Value Questionnaire (1991) and Gunuc and Kuzu's Academic Enthusiasm Questionnaire (2015). Data analysis was done using SPSS and AMOS software. For the reliability of the questionnaires, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used, and the results indicated the good reliability of the instruments. The results of the analysis of the research hypothesis showed that the proposed model had a good fit and the effect of the basic psychological needs on the intrinsic value of the task (P<0.01) and academic engagement (P<0.01) as well as the effect of the intrinsic value of the assignment on the academic enthusiasm (P<0.01) was positive. And it was meaningful. Also, the mediating role of the intrinsic value of the task was significant (P<0.01). According to the results of the research, it can be concluded that the basic psychological needs and the intrinsic value of the task are important antecedents of academic enthusiasm.
