Abstract :
The purpose of this research was the role of self-regulation (cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies) in the academic performance of third-year students of experimental sciences in Babol high schools. In this research, self-regulation (cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies) and academic performance are considered as criterion variables. The research sample included 150 female and male students of the third year of experimental sciences studying in Babol high schools in 1399-1400, who were selected using a multi-stage cluster sampling method. The results obtained in this research showed that in the whole sample, the role of self-regulation (cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies) and academic performance was 0.25 and 0.25, respectively. Regression was used to determine the contribution of each predictor variable in determining the criterion variable. The results of the analysis showed that self-regulation contributed to explaining the variance of academic performance. Self-esteem did not contribute to explaining the variance of academic performance.
